Service

I have been actively involved in service to both my university and diverse professional organizations, playing integral roles in study abroad initiatives, conference proposal reviews, and editorial board responsibilities, all driven by the goal of creating a significant impact within the professional community. My commitment to service aligns deeply with the ethos of my university, where the motto "The measure of a Life is its Service" resonates profoundly within the academic community.

Service Accomplishments

Service to the Department

Within the department, I assumed leadership as the committee chair for WOLC Non-Tenure-Track Faculty Evaluation, actively participated in the program development committee, and dedicated time to volunteer at various recruitment events. Recognizing the importance of program visibility, I have consistently organized French movie night events (see flyers below), aiming to enhance recognition of the French program within the student body. Furthermore, I currently serve as the faculty advisor for the French club "Entre Amis", fostering community and engagement among its members.

Service to the College

At the college level, I served four key roles:

  1. I worked as the departmental representative for the CHSS Committee for Academic Community Engagement (ACE).

  2. I played a pivotal role as one of three faculty mentors in the CHSS Skills Challenge which involved guiding student teams in addressing challenges faced by the local business, SAAFE House.

  3. I contributed as a member of the Editorial Board for the CHSS Journal of Undergraduate Research (The Measure), actively reviewing article manuscripts and abstracts.

  4. I joined the CHSS faculty awards committee in 2024 and have been working hard to help select the best candidates who uphold the highest standards of excellence in research, teaching, and service.

Service to the University

At the university level:

  1. I currently serve as a member of the Faculty Senate, where I contribute to shaping academic policies and initiatives.

  2. As the director of the France study abroad program, I successfully organized and led a transformative experience for 10 SHSU students in Aix-en-Provence, France, during the summer of 2024.

  3. I was nominated by the Provost to serve as a member on the Distance Education Committee for a
three-year term effective September 1, 2024 and expiring on August 31, 2027. Committee
information and membership can be accessed online here.

I have served as a blind manuscript reviewer for renowned journals in my field such as Language Teaching Research, System and Journal of Second Language Writing.
